Londolozi Private Game Reseve is situated on the Sand River in the very heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. This reserve in turn forms part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a vast and growing area, currently covering 6 million acres and incorporating the famous Kruger National Park. This rich, wild wonderland assures exceptional game drives and a true wilderness experience.

Breeding herds of elephant and buffalo roam throughout the Londolozi Private Game Reserve, while white rhino and lion concentrations are amongst the highest recorded on the African continent.

However, it is the truly remarkable relationship which has developed over three decades between wild free ranging leopards and ranger & trackers which makes Londolozi Private Game Reserve world famous. There is no disputing that viewing the leopards of Londolozi is one of life’s truly treasured experiences.

A Londolozi safari is about engaging all the senses and participating in the journey, so that you come away charged, enlightened and ready for the next adventure.

Sabi Sand Reserve

The Sabi Sand comprises a number of private game reserves, each providing an exclusive and luxury experience in the heart of the bush. Unlike the Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sands is not open to the general public.  Staying in one of the lodges here means you are sharing this pristine wilderness with only a few other guests, since each private reserve has exclusive traversing rights over their area. Furthermore, your Safari here is not bound by the Kruger's strict conservation rules. Rangers can drive off-road, taking you into the heart of the bush, and lead you on guided walking safaris, tracking animals in the wilderness.

The game viewing in the Sabi Sands is nothing short of sensational. The reserve has a dense concentration of wildlife, including over 330 plant species, 45 fish species, 30 amphibian species, 110 reptile species, 500 bird species and 145 mammal species! It is home to the Big Five and is probably the best place in the world to get up close and personal with the elusive leopard. Elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and a vast variety of antelope make up the numbers and compliment your experience!

Lodges at Londolozi

At each of the five exquisite Londolozi Lodges, you will experience exceptional cuisine and the very best game viewing with some of Africa’s finest rangers. Wherever you stay, you’ll enjoy over 14,000 ha of exceptional traversing in the Sabi Sand private game reserve – home of the Big 5.

So why do the lodges vary in price? Well it’s simply down to the quality of the accommodation. The Private Granite Suites are the crème de la crème of the Londolozi portfolio, closely followed by Pioneer Camp and Tree Camp. These three properties are all part of the Relais & Chateaux group of elite hotels. Tree Camp and the Private Granite Suites do not allow children under the age of 16 unless they are taken for exclusive use. Pioneer Camp can be used for both families and couples alike.

Varty Camp and Founders Camp are slightly larger and perfect for families and small groups and accept children of four years and older.

The great thing about the variety is that there is usually something to suit every budget.

Londolozi Founders Camp

Londolozi Founders Camp honours past Guests and Staff who have contributed to building Londolozi Game Reserve. It is their efforts which have distilled the legacy of the past 30 years into a common mission.

Enchanting, intimate and child friendly; Londolozi Founders Camp is ideally situated to provide an insider’s view of the secrets of river life. Seven idyllic chalets, repose in the shade of ancient ebony and matumi trees along the banks of the Sand River.

This is an African safari in the classic bush bohemian style, replete with black and cream ticking fabric and original mahogany beds. Deep cream couches, military chests, compass safari lamps and a riverside lounge sala, create a mood of easy luxury and laid back welcome for discerning families and travelers.

Granite Suites at Londolozi

The Private Granite Suites offer an extraordinary experience for the exclusive use of six Guests.

Bold, inspiring materials mirror the extrusion of granite rocks that flank the camp while conveying the raw essence of Africa. A palette of silver, charcoal and elephant grey in a range of sumptuous materials creates an elegant and contemporary setting in each expansive suite.

The emphasis is on space, light and privacy while blurring the barrier between inside and out. A seamless integration with nature is achieved with large doors and windows all opening directly onto the Sand River.  This luxury safari lodge is for the discerning traveller who appreciates the finer details of an African safari.

Each suite has a private, heated swimming pool.

Private Granite Suites can be booked individually or as a private camp for six Guests, making it ideal for honeymooning couples or small groups celebrating special occasions.

The Private Granite Suites do not accommodate children under the age of 16, unless guests book the camp exclusively.

Londolozi Pioneer Camp

Londolozi Pioneer Camp Londolozi Pioneer Camp

Following the unqualified success of the Tree Camp & Granite Suites - Londolozi completed the newly renovated Londolozi Pioneer Camp in 2010.

Set amongst the dappled shade of 500 year old ebony trees, the three luxury suites and generous bush home central area is the culmination of four decades of design experience in the safari industry.

"It is perhaps the most exciting and adaptable camp we have ever built at Londolozi." - says Dave Varty

Londolozi Pioneer Camp is the most secluded of Londolozi's Luxury camps.  The three private suites have superb river views and are perfect for honeymoons and private getaways. Focused on multi-generational family travel, this adaptable camp can also be converted into a private bush home for family groups of 6 - 14 people through linking glass sky walkways into interconnected family units.

The spacious entrance-halls, are decorated with a Ralph Lauren feel. Clean lines, modern and sophisticated with floor to ceiling glass sliding panels which frame the wilderness views beyond.

The bathrooms are classic Victorian with modern accents in the marble, chrome and mahogany finishes. Throughout the camp there is a pervading sense of history thanks to faithfully restored memorabilia of photographs, old suitcases, silver, crystal glass and gramophones. Everything about Pioneer Camp is deeply personal and provides a romantic backdrop to the adventures of a new generation of sophisticated travellers.

Londolozi Tree Camp

Londolozi Tree Camp Londolozi Tree Camp

Londolozi Tree Camp embodies the very essence of Londolozi’s continuous striving to transcend and redefine the journey to the wilderness.

This is a place of connoisseurship, leopards, orchids, lanterns and lead wood trees. Guests spend lazy afternoons on their decks, champagne in hand as they survey the ancient landscape, elephants feeding below in the river.

Elegance and simplicity are the hallmarks of the Londolozi Tree Camp sanctuaries. In every detail and feature, from the private swimming pools and contemplation decks (salas) to the Ralph Lauren wallpaper and chocolate plaited leather beds, this exclusive camp provides a matchless showcase of African excellence.

Londolozi Tree Camp does not accommodate children under the age of 16, unless guests book the camp exclusively.

Londolozi Varty Camp

The campfire has burned here for over 85 years making Londolozi Varty Camp the symbolic heart and soul of Londolozi.

The décor echoes the same tones of the owner's private homes and their continuing love affair with the earth.

Londolozi Varty Camp is the home of an African safari holiday.  All rooms have private swimming pools framed by timber decks that overlook the riverine bush. The living spaces are raised off the ground and shaded under a cathedral of trees. The camp has a pleasingly down-to-earth quality and the emphasis on family heritage means that children of all ages always have a place at Londolozi Varty Camp.

Londolozi Varty Camp is also home to the original Sparta Hunting Camp, our boutique, the Cardio Vascular Room, Massage Treatment Room and our Library. Guests from all Camps are invited to make use of these facilities.
